Bend Restaurants - Places to eat during the Week

If you are travelling to Bend Oregon and find yourself here during the weekend there are many wonderful restaurants to eat, drink, and have good conversation.  For a city with just over 80,000 residents you have a relatively large choice of brewery's, wine bars, and places to get a good cocktail. In summer, Bend rivals just about any city in things to do throughout the week. I've actually talked with people from Vegas and San Francisco who are just amazed at how much there is to do here in the summer. You would be hard pressed to find many people to tell you there is not a lot to do here in the summer...but now it's Fall, so what is there to do?

In the Fall, the city slows down noticeably compared to the summer. However there is still plenty to do and many events through the off season. Here's a quick run down of restaurants we recommend for Breakfast, Lunch, Cocktails, Dinner, Dessert and Nightcaps.

Coffee: I typically start my day for coffee at Thump downtown. Quite simply to me it's the best coffee shop in Bend. I struggle because they serve Stumptown from Portland instead of supporting one of our many local roasters but the coffee is prepared consistently every time. The staff is very nice and the baristas are really good at their job.

Other Coffee you might like: Looney Bean, BackPorch, Mother's Juice Cafe'.

Quick Breakfast: If I am in the mood for a quick and light breakfast (QSR) I'll usually go to Mother's Juice Cafe' for a smoothie and/or Breakfast sandwich depending on my hunger level. If I'm really being price conscious and want big portions I'll go to Pilot Butte Drive In on Century Drive and grab a huge breakfast sandwich for $5.

Other Quick Breakfast Restaurants you might like: Pilot Butte, Emerald City Smoothie's, Jamba Juice.

Gourmet Breakfast: There are many good choices for a gourmet breakfast in Bend, however to me there is one that stands above the rest and that's The Victorian Cafe'. It's probably one of the best breakfasts you will have anywhere. They feature creative and new specials twice weekly and you will always find an eggs benedict to your liking. I'm a sweet & salty guy and if they have the Patriot French toast and Naples Eggs Benedict while your there order it for sure. If you prefer a morning cocktail they have private label champagne for mimosas and a 24oz "Proud Mary Bloody" equipped with all 4 food groups topped with shrimp skewers!

Other Gourmet Breakfast Restaurants you might like: McKay's, Alpenglow, Chow

Quick Lunch: For a quick lunch I look at sandwich shops like TuckMo Subs or Letzer's Deli. They are completely different but both serve a great product. TuckMo has great subs packed with veggies or if you prefer a hot sub they have the best meatball sub around. Letzer's is more of a New York Jewish style deli with huge stacks of meat smoked to perfection. You really can't go wrong at either place.

Other Quick Lunch Restaurants you might like: Mother's, Cafe' Yumm, Jimmy John's

Lunch: Pilot Butte is famous for their burgers and if you are in the mood for a gourmet burger look no further! They have 2 locations now. The original on Hwy 20 and the new westside location on Century Drive next to Safeway and Starbucks. You really don't have to look anywhere else for a burger in this town because nothing is even close and the multiple awards every year tell you exactly why.  Another great spot that we are high on is The Hideaway formerly known as Grover's Pizza on Cleveland Ave just off 3rd Street.

Other Lunch Restaurants you might like: Baldy's BBQ, Kanpai Sushi Bar, El Jimador

After Work: If you are a guy you will probably enjoy The Hideaway, it's a new sports bar with eight 50' & 60" flat screens, pool tables, great drinks and the best part is the food! Sports are on all the time and you can usually find some good conversation there as well.

Ladies may be more incline to go to Ariana or Level 2 and you simply cannot go wrong at either place! Possibly the best places in Bend to get cocktails.

Other After work Cocktail Restaurants you might like: Deschutes Brewery, McMenamins, Pine Tavern, Amalia's, Greg's Grill

Dinner: Ariana, Zydeco, 900 Wall, Greg's Grill, Level 2, 5 Fusion, you can't really go wrong with any of them. They are also excellent choices for after dinner cocktails.

Dessert: There is one dessert place that I recommend over all others: Cuppa Yo - If you like frozen dessert then look no further. Great vibe, super kid friendly, tons of toppings, and great tasting Fro-Yo!

Night caps: Astro Lounge, Velvet, Jackalope Grill, The Loft (private but if know a member go there), 10 Barrel, Cascade Lakes Brewery, Deschutes Brewery, JC's.

Gourmet Pizza: There are many good one's to choose from in Bend however we would say for price quality and atmosphere go to The Hideaway. You can take the entire family until 10p which is the permitted time for minors. Some other great one's are Cibelli's, Pizza Mondo, Pisano's, and Flat Bread Community Oven in the Old Mill.

As you can see even in the off season the little city of Bend has many choices of restaurants for all types. Bend is absolutely one of the best places to see in Oregon so if you are planning a trip to the Northwest make sure and consider Central Oregon. Whatever your need or preference, most likely you will find it here. Bend Oregon is a very special place and if you come to town please let us know your thoughts by participating in our polls or commenting! We would love to hear your opinion!
